Here at WTS Headquarters, the weather is cold outside, and we shockingly still have football. I’m expecting from when I’m writing these opening lines up on the Tuesday of Week 9 that we’ll get the every-four-weeks-COVID news dumps right before publication.
But that’s not what you wanted! You wanted an early holiday gift with WTS 2020 NFL Edition Part 3, right?

Remember when I said the schedule for Where Things Stand (or WTS for short) would be very tentative? I am shocked I ended up getting this edition out with so many schedule changes.
Well, here we are with Part 2 of the 2020 edition. If you missed Part 1, click here to read it.
The humor, snark and analysis train has to keep chugging somehow, and we are moving along. While I failed in my first attempt at making a time machine, the mulligan still exists for Part 4.

The Indians came into today with huge seeding implications. With a win over the Pittsburgh Pirates and a Chicago White Sox loss, they would be the four seed and host the wild card round Tuesday. A Tribe loss or White Sox win would make them the seven seed and play the opening round on the road.
The stakes were clear, and the Indians delivered behind a huge rally from the top of the lineup, winning 8–6. …
Following last night’s dramatic walk-off win, the third in four games and a six game winning streak, The Cleveland Indians remained alive to win the AL Central Crown.
Heading into game 59, the Tribe could at least clinch the number four seed and a home wild card series next week Tuesday if they won and the Chicago White Sox lost.
Standing in their way yet again was the Pittsburgh Pirates. But this time the Pirates sunk the Indians’ hopes of winning a division crown with an 8–0 thumping.

The Cleveland Indians came into the final weekend’s first game riding a five game winning streak. The Pittsburgh Pirates had won three straight contests. Something would have to give.
And so gave the Pirates in a stunning loss, as Cleveland scored three runs in the ninth inning to walk-off the Pirates 4–3.
Carlos Carrasco started the game off with a walk to Adam Frazier but got out of the first inning without further trouble, striking out Colin Moran and 2019 All-Star Josh Bell.
Mitch Keller then walked the first three batters of the game, only throwing three strikes on 15…
After falling behind the Chicago White Sox and into a tie for second place in the AL Central with the Minnesota Twins Friday night, the Cleveland Indians turned to Aaron Civale to help deliver a win following the previous night’s beatdown.
In a back and forth battle throughout the night, the Indians walked off on a Cesar Hernandez RBI single to beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4–3.
Civale put together a much needed outing for a floundering offense, going six strong innings, giving up five hits, three walks, and two earned runs with six strikeouts on 100 pitches. …
On a cool, crisp Friday night at Progressive Field, the Milwaukee Brewers came in looking to further climb back up into the standings with MVP Christian Yelich and Co. looking to climb up into the top eight in the National League against the Cleveland Indians.
While Carlos Carrasco got off to a rocky start in the first inning before settling down, the Brewers beat the Indians 7–1.
Cesar Hernandez led off the first inning for the Tribe with a double to deep center, but he failed to score as the offense couldn’t knock him in.

The Cleveland Indians have been waiting for the day top pitching prospect Triston McKenzie would make his Major League debut, and he didn’t disappoint Saturday night in a 6–1 Tribe victory. The right hander threw six innings, giving up two hits, one run and striking out 10 batters plus one walk while earning the win.
McKenzie, who had dealt with injuries the last two years, is 6-foot-5, weighing 185 pounds with a fastball topping out at 96, a curveball with good life and break, a change-up and slider. …
